How to Choose Your Online Business?
Whether online or offline, new comers will ask what kind of business is suitable for them. It is a very basic question, yet may be overwhelming for new comers in business world. There are several answers to this question. Sadly, all of the answers seem right but entirely different one and another.
All those answers can be divided into two main answers. One answer is to choose your business based on what is hot in the market. The other answer is to look at yourself. To choose a business that you like and good at. Let’s look deeper at those two answers one by one.
Some experts say that you have to look at the market itself to determine which business you should involved in. Why? Because by doing this you are giving the markets something they want. Something they are eager to buy. It is easy money to make. You do not have to spend extensive time and efforts to sell the products or services. If you are good enough to provide the products or services the markets are searching for, it is not uncommon to have customers looking for you instead of you search for customers.
Although this approach is profitable, there is one big disadvantage in using this approach. You have to keep yourself abreast with the market. You always have to follow the trend. There is no way for you to leave the business after a while. You have to always create something new, provide the customers something new and exciting. If you don’t do it, the products or services will become dull as time goes, so does your income.
Another approach is to build a business that you like and good at. It may not be easy because the product or service is not hot in the market. However, since you like doing it you will find no mental suffering if you do not receive an income in the early stage of the business. Since you are good at this, you might someday become the giant in your industry.
Let’s take an example. Years ago there was one giant in the search engine world called Yahoo. At that time, a small company called Google was trying to enter the search engine world. Many people laughed at Google. How could a starter company like Google defeat the giant Yahoo? Well, it certainly can. Latest surveys claimed that Google’s market share is bigger than Yahoo’s. This is just an example of building a business in the industry that you are really good at. There is no limit of what you can achieve with this kind of business in the long term if you do it right.
In the end, there is no best answer for everyone. Sometimes someone may need to build both businesses. Good businesspeople are clever and adaptable. Choose something that you think will work for you. Building business based on market’s demand is good as you will get your profits very fast. However, if the product or service is not hot anymore in the market, the business might be faced with bankruptcy. Building business based on your hobby and strength can be extremely profitable in the long term if you do it right. However, you must wait a little longer to gain profit as the market’s demand is not very high.
